40 Years of Craft

In celebration of Samuel Adams’ 40th anniversary, we’re inviting drinkers out to sample through the decades with us! We’ll be hosting our own beer festival at the Boston Brewery, showcasing fan-favorite throwbacks alongside our newest taproom innovations and highlighting friends we’ve made along the way through collaborations. Join us as we celebrate 40 years with live music, VIP Sessions, small business food pop-ups, and a retrospective in the form of beer!

On March 2nd, we’ll kick off the party with a Sam Super Fan Tour Experience led by none other than our fearless leader and founder, Jim Koch. Hear our history directly from the source as Jim walks a small group through the landmark moments. From first seeing the Boston Brewery as an abandoned building to setting out on his first sales calls to fostering all of Boston Beer Company’s innovation today, Jim will show drinkers around, of course with some of his trademark stories and a perfect pint of Boston Lager.

Then we’ll kick off our 40th Anniversary Festival! Like any good beer festival, we’ll be pouring a range of styles and each will tie into the journey of craft beer over the last four decades. Our stacked lineup of 15 samples will include:

  • Throwbacks: We're bringing some special brews out of the vault! Taste our first ever seasonal beer, Double Bock, and Latitude 48, an IPA brewed using hops grown exclusively along the 48th latitude, among others.

  • Seasonals: For one day only, drink all four of our revered seasonal beers at once. We’ll be pouring Winter Lager, Cold Snap, Summer Ale, and Octoberfest to give our guests the taste of winter, spring, summer, and fall.

  • Brewing the American Dream: As an entrepreneur himself, Jim has always been passionate about helping small businesses find their footing. Through our Brewing the American Dream program, we provide coaching, networking, capital, and other resources to food and beverage businesses across the country. We collaborated with two local partners, Top Shelf Cookies and Kikos Coffee, to brew limited-edition drafts, served side-by-side with the beer that started it all, Boston Lager.

  • Innovations: Along with our Boston Brewery, we have two taprooms with Research & Development brewhouses: our Downtown Boston Taproom and Cincinnati Taproom right next to our Cincinnati Production Brewery. Enjoy some of our latest innovations out of our taprooms for a glimpse of the direction we see craft beer moving towards.

And if that’s not enough for you, we’ll be doing intimate VIP Sessions in our Bier Keller. Join us in sampling exclusive barrel aged beers, including a collaboration with Boston Harbor Distillery. Rhonda Kallman, who helped Jim co-found Boston Beer Company and oversaw sales and marketing during our foundational years, started Boston Harbor Distillery in 2012 to continue her impressive career in this industry. Together we crafted RyePA, a rye IPA aged in the distillery’s Putnam Rye whiskey barrels.

To round this party out, we’ll have live music and Brewing the American Dream partners will be serving up food in the Taproom. It’ll be an all-out day celebrating the milestones of craft beer and the friends we’ve made along the way. Secure your tickets to join us in the fun!
