For centuries, revolutions have been ignited in pubs. In this spirit, we’ve collaborated with two revolutionary breweries that work tirelessly to ensure their beer is delicious and their taprooms are inclusive: CraftRoots Brewing and Provincetown Brewing Company.
CraftRoots, out of Milford, MA, is the first 100% woman-owned brewery in the state, having opened their doors in 2014. Maureen runs the brewing-side, while her wife Robin makes it all happen on the taproom-side. Sustainability, and creating a community with the farmers and maltsters that are key to quality beer, is at the core of CraftRoots’ mission.
Way down on Cape Cod is Provincetown Brewing, founded by Chris Hartley. Each beer that Provincetown releases features a cause important to their team and community. “Activism is our ethos,” as they say. They back this up by donating 15% of their profits back to charity and nonprofit organizations.
As we began planning Pride month at the Boston Brewery, we reflected on the challenge the pandemic placed on us all this last year and especially the LGBTQA+ community. Lockdown meant the loss of safe spaces for some many in this community. And so our priority became assuring the safety of our own space and amplifying others. CraftRoots and Provincetown Brewing were no brainers.
Together we brewed LCA:rEVOLUTION, inspired by the safe spaces and brave faces that organize and fight for LGBTQA+ rights. As a nod to the iconic Greenwich Village pub that was the center of the original Pride, we've created this stone fruit wheat ale for a refreshingly bright brew to take Love Conquers Ale into its newest iteration – a true rEVOLUTION.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to an organization we all felt is essential to this community, the Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts. Transgender Emergency Fund is the only organization dedicated to supporting low income and homeless Transgender individuals in Massachusetts. The Transgender Emergency Fund assists with homelessness prevention, shelter assistance, nutrition assistance, prescription co-pay assistance, transportation and escort to medical appointments, etc.
LCA: rEVOLUTION will be available at CraftRoots, Provincetown Brewing, and the Sam Adams Boston Brewery in 4-packs and on draft starting June 10th.
Sam Adams will donate $1.00 to the Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts for every draft and 4-pack of LCA:rEVOLUTION sold at the Boston Brewery between the months of June and July.*
*Donations are from Sam Adams to Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts. For more information on TEF visit https://transemergencyfund.org/. Maximum donation is $2,000. Offer valid only the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery between June 1 – July 31, 2021.
