Celebrating the 128th Boston Marathon 

The 128th Boston Marathon is upon us and with it comes our 12th annual release of 26.2 Brew, the official beer of the Boston Marathon.

The Sam Adams 26.2 Brew is a beer that is special to our brewers and to the people of Boston alike. This beer commemorates the running of the Boston Marathon and recognizes the alliance of two great Boston traditions that share a historic connection. Samuel Adams ultimately got its start near where runners cross the Marathon’s finish line, accomplishing an incredible feat. We created 26.2 Brew to mark this momentous occasion and to offer a refreshing and sessionable beer that is fitting for a marathon of a day—whether you’re celebrating over the finish line or cheering on your favorite runners. Here at Sam, we’ll definitely be cheering on our very own team of “Brew Crew” marathon runners!

26.2 Brew is a gose style beer that’s brewed with sea salt and coriander for a light body and refreshing finish. It features light cereal notes from malted and unmalted wheat, a soft mouthfeel, and a touch of peppery spice—ideal for post-race celebrations.

While 26.2 Brew is available on draft throughout Greater Boston, this limited-run beer will be available in 4-pk cans exclusively at both our Boston Brewery and Downtown Boston Taproom starting on Friday, April 12th. Both locations will be celebrating all weekend long and guests can purchase commemorative pint glasses, paddle openers, and runner swag. Check out all the happenings below!

MARATHON HAPPENINGS

Sam Adams Boston Brewery – 30 Germania St

Through the Boston Athletic Association, runners can sign up for tours of our Boston Brewery at a discounted rate for an immersive experience, raising a pint of 26.2 Brew and taking home a commemorative glass. We'll be celebrating Marathon Weekend with live music in the Beer Garden Friday the 12th through Monday the 15th. Carb up on fresh-baked Bavarian pretzels or get in your protein with a brat and wash it all down with a 26.2 Brew!

Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom – 60 State St

We'll be celebrating runners all weekend long with the release of our 26.2 Brew on tap early starting on Thursday 3/28 and in 4-pk cans starting Friday 4/12. Also starting on Friday 4/12, folks can order a 26.2 Brew pint in our special commemorative glass and keep the glass! This is open to everyone and not just runners so make sure to order a brew quick because once we're out, we're out. Carbo-load with our Eastern Standard Pretzels and Beer Cheese and don’t miss our special Top Shelf Cookies 26.2 Cookie Combo featuring Left on Boylston & Finish Line cookies baked from frozen on-site!

Please note that on Marathon Monday 4/15, we'll be closing early at 6pm for a private BAA event so please plan your visit accordingly.
